Jo is one of the family responsible for the overall running of the business, having grown up in it, and has now worked full-time for more than twenty-eight years. Initially Jo helped out by working in all departments at Highgate House and as the business developed she took responsibility for sales as this separated from Reception. Jo's first career was nursing - it was through this that she developed the instinct and passion needed for looking after others. The basis of this is transferred to the work she does today, though thankfully the people she is currently looking after are mostly well. When Barnett Hill joined the group in 1996 Jo travelled between her home in Northamptonshire and the Surrey property to set up a sales office at the venue. It was at this time that she became completely focused on sales and as such responsible for the teams at both venues. In 1998 she set up a similar office at Woodside, forming relationships with clients and making sure that the same standards and procedures were being carried out at each venue.
When Sundial Group was formed in 1998, Jo was named Sales and Marketing Director. As the business expanded, she identified the need to separate the two functions and was very grateful when Mark Cooper joined in 2004. She was then able to take full responsibility for the Marketing of the Group, working very closely with Mark to support the sales teams she had set up. Most of Sundial's Marketing is done in-house, Jo (along with her team) is responsible for overseeing the group's branding, advertising, promotional strategy and communications.
Outside of work, Jo spends a lot of time with her family. She enjoys bringing up her teenage children, spending time with her elder daughter and grandson and walking their three dogs.
