News: Sundial’s Chudbus hosts winning stall at Zibrant’s Charity Fun Day!
5 Aug 2011
On Thursday 28th July Sundial's increasingly well known Chudbus hosted a popular stall at booking agent; Zibrant, charity fun day to support the Prince's Trust and was subsequently awarded one of two ‘Supplier of the Day' awards.
Sundial's iconic English Routemaster bus, due to popular demand, hosted a stand and served BBQ food to friends and family of the team at Zibrant's Global Sales and Marketing office. The fun day turned out to be a fantastic sunny day with a number of suppliers attending, helping to make a huge success of the event and raising an amazing £3638.75 for the Prince's Trust! The Chudbus became one of the most popular stalls of the day, ending with Sundial Venues and the Chudbus being announced as ‘Supplier of the Day' winner for the most impactful stand. The bright red classic London double decker is a promotional ‘vehicle', showcasing Sundial Venues with a nod to the history and values behind Sundial.
Since the 21st-century Chudbus first debuted at the National Venue Show in 2004, it has become well known within the meetings industry, securing major press coverage from the likes of Conference News and Meetings & Incentive Travel Magazine. The bus has become an important symbol in portraying Sundial's history and values - the Chudley family, owner-operators of the hospitality group used to travel around in a bus in the sixties because it was the easiest way to transport their family of 11! Before the purchase of Highgate House in Northamptonshire as a family home in 1964, Michael and Diana Chudley bought a bus to transport their large family. The Chudbus became well known around Northamptonshire and indeed across the UK when Gaumont Rank showed newsreel and the BBC broadcast the story about the extraordinary Chudley family and their bus.
Today Sundial has developed into a first class hospitality group, synonymous with award-winning value for money, first class meetings venues and innovative team building events. Corporate and Social Responsibility plays a large part in the values of the way Sundial is run, with a keen focus on operating in a eco-friendly manner wherever possible and showing support for charities. Sundial were only too happy to bring their Chudbus down to Surrey to support Zibrant's charity fun day in Surrey, all in aid of the Prince's Trust.
The Prince's Trust support young people in the UK by offering practical and financial support to those who need it the most. The Trust help develop key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling young people to move into work, education and training. The aim of Zibrant's event was to raise money for the Prince's Trust Wild UK challenge in which 16 participants from Zibrant will bike, hike and kayak 100 miles across Somerset and Devon in just three days. All money raised through the raffles, fun and games will go directly to the worthy charity. The Sundial team donated their time and BBQ treats to support the event, taking the bright red double decker to wow the crowd.
