News: Sundial Group Chefs Reach Final of National Chef’s Competition

Sundial Group chefs Iain Miller (Head Chef at Woodside) and Scott Cawse (Chef de Partie at Barnett Hill) have both reached the final of the 2013 Chef's Challenge Competition ran by Conference Centres of Excellence.

Now in its 15th year, the established competition has 12 national conference centre chefs competing in a cook-off competition at Stratford Upon Avon College on Saturday 9th November.

Iain Miller, head chef at Woodside in Warwickshire and Scott Cawse, chef at Barnett Hill in Surrey are part of 12 hopefuls competing to find the best of the chefs in the UK conferencing industry. Each chef will have their skills put to the test when the judges set specific criteria for their menu and 3 hours in which to complete it.

The cook-offs will be held on the day of the event and will be followed with a celebratory awards dinner in the evening at EEF Venues Woodland Grange, Leamington Spa where the winners will be announced.

For Conference Centres of Excellence this event is an additional component to their strategy of continuous quality assurance and is a great opportunity to recognise the achievements of their members' chefs and a celebration of exceptional food. Certified by the British Culinary Federation, the competition has proved to be a stepping stone for young chefs to go on to higher profile competitions nationwide.

Earlier this year, Iain Miller won the 2013 UK Copper Skillet Competition run by the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC). As well as winning the UK title, Miller went on to represent the UK in the IACC's prestigious Global Chef of the Year Championship in Chicago.
