What's in a name?
Although the name ‘Sundial’ was first used in 1998, the brand and its values have been in existence since the 1960s. Mum (pictured right) was a perfectionist, and, at Highgate House, everything had to be ‘just so’. Leading by example with her creativity, drive and energy, she was involved with every aspect at Highgate House right up until she handed it to us in the early 1990s. In 1996 Barnett Hill (Surrey) was added, and two became three in 1998 with the addition of Woodside (Warwickshire). At this time it was necessary to define the brand, and the word ‘Sundial’ represents precision, attention to detail, reliability, innovation and longevity – undeniable attributes of the business.
It's all about people
But what is it that makes Sundial so special? In short, it is the dedicated team of friendly people across the venues that define the brand. Obviously the facilities and physical features and specifications of the venues have to be of the highest standard, but without the right staff, excellent facilities count for nothing. If a business can combine the two it will be successful, and for forty years, the family has done just this. Huge amounts of time and effort are invested into the recruitment process, with an emphasis on only employing people able to provide excellent customer hospitality.
The four key Sundial Values govern everything we do. Professionalism, Experience, Respect and Quality are the perfect words to package the brand, and these values are put into action every day at every Sundial venue.
