The Terrace Restaurant Open for Business

The Terrace Restaurant is complete and open for business!

At the end of a refurbishment programme that was completed in just two months, The Terrace Restaurant is now open and serving guests at Highgate House.  The restaurant will be used to serve all three main meals at Highgate House. 

Monday 22nd September 2008 was its first day of operation, and at 07:00 the first guest to dine there, Mr Mike Bray of COBSEO, enjoyed his breakfast in the new surroundings.

The change is dramatic.  The space was previously home to our swimming pool, with the surrounding pool terrace and 'pickle bar' being the location where guests would enjoy buffet breakfast and lunch.  This project, part of our million-pound refurbishment schedule, saw that pool emptied and covered, the partitions removed and the ceiling entirely redesigned to provide a contemporary, brasserie-style dining area that will now be used for conference guests' evening dining.  Our main-house dining rooms remain available for private hire by conference groups and private individuals wishing to commemorate a special occasion with an intimate, high-class dinner experience.

Additional benefits to this refurbishment include a much more intuitive layout to our busiest service areas, making it easier for customers to find their way around.  Two new coffee lounges have been created in and around The Terrace Restaurant and Bar area, providing a much better breakout experience too.  A finishing kitchen has been created behind the hot buffet station, and each morning a chef will be cooking eggs to order for breakfast.
