Japanese Water Garden

A bell is located at the top of a high bamboo pole. The team must ring the bell by using water power only. Ten sunken taps that control water flow lie within the garden but the team has no information on the function of each tap. The challenge is to establish the cause and effect of the tap and so generate a water supply from a stand pipe. Directing the water onto a water wheel will trigger a mechanism that will ring the bell.

Addresses: team working, co-operation, collaboration, analytical problem solving and communication. Japanese Water Garden is ideal as an icebreaker.
